Overview
Greetings everyone, this is Ryan again, and I’m returning today to bring you Transparency Report 55.
In this report, I’ll start by comparing our stats and analytics for June with the previous year, and May. Then, I’ll discuss updates and events for the past month, and finally I’ll go over some things that I hope to accomplish this summer.
What Happened This Month
Freemius
Sales

Let’s start by reviewing a dashboard view that I didn’t include in my previous Transparency Report. This view compares June 2025 against June 2024, and shows us the gross revenue, refunds and charge backs, the net revenue, the monthly recurring revenue (MRR), the monthly recurring revenue growth rate, and subscription renewals.
First, lets look at the Gross Revenue. One thing that I want to note here is that nearly half of the revenue for this month was due to a renewal of an annual business plan subscription. For those of you who are unfamiliar with our business plan subscription tier, it includes a dedicated team member who will manage, setup, and customize your installation so that you get your project printed exactly how you imagined it. I personally think this is great value for someone who is a small business owner, who wants to save a lot of time and get help customizing designs to match their brand.
Anyway, this was the second year of the customer’s subscription and Mike was worried that the customer might have renewed their plan unintentionally, so he asked me to follow up with them. So, I followed up with them, and they replied “The renewal was intentional”.
I want to tell this story because I think it highlights two things that have really impressed me since I started contributing to Print My Blog. The first thing is Mike’s emphasis on decency, and the second thing is how much customers appreciate him and the work he has put into this plugin.
In terms of the numbers, compared to last year, Gross Revenue has increased by 68%, and Net Revenue by 48%. The lower figure for Net Revenue was due to a relative high number of refunds and charge backs. We offer a no-questions asked 30 day refund policy to give customers a chance to try out our premium features with less risk.
This month, at least one of those refunds was due to an incompatibility with the customer’s gallery plugin. I’ve discussed the issue with Mike, and created a GitHub Issue for it. Improving support for gallery plugins is definitely something we would like to do, but due to the complexity, it may be something that will take a while to code a good solution for.
Now, let’s take a look at MRR. So, what is MRR exactly? As I mentioned above, it is monthly recurring revenue. So, that means the renewal of monthly subscriptions. In many cases, customers on monthly subscription plans only keep the plugin for a few months while they complete a specific project, and then they cancel when the project is complete.

In the graph above, the purple line represents June and the gray line is May. Each upward blip usually indicates new monthly subscriptions, and each downward blip indicates subscription cancellations. As you can see, despite a lot of fluctuation across the month, there was a small positive net change of 2.1%. Freemius describes this metric as “the best single measure of the health and trajectory of a recurring revenue business.” Given this definition, I think our current condition could be described as “stable” or perhaps “stagnant”.

This graph shows the MRR over the past 12 months. I think this graph reinforces that the plugin is currently in a relatively “stable” state. Aside from a relatively large spike across January, February and March, MRR has remained consistent at around $1100 per month. We’ll need to watch this stat across future transparency reports to see how it changes.
Audience

For the audience today, I want to focus on a comparison between June and May, because I think that will give us the best idea of how things are trending. This graph shows the country of origin of users, and as you can see there are slight increases across the board. I think this is a good growth indicator, and I hope to see this trend continue in future reports.
Website

Looking at website stats, we can see that Total Visitors is down by 13%. As you may remember, we launched a LinkedIn page in May and in June we made two posts to the account, so I was hoping to see at least some new traffic from that. When I checked our site referrer stats though, there were no LinkedIn referrals visible. PMB’s social media presence is still very new though, and still has very low followings, so we’ll need to see if we can grow these numbers over the next quarter.
Summer Plans
Summer is usually a slower season for us, as I think more people are getting off the computer and enjoying the warm weather. So, I hope to have time to focus on the code and creating new resources and tutorials for you.
New Features & Bug Fixes
Now that I am getting more familiar with Print My Blog’s code base, I hope to work through our GitHub issues log and release some bug fixes and new features. I am working on a release now that addresses a couple bugs and UX issues related to Pro Print, and also includes an updated version of the Freemius SDK. Another task I would like to attempt is improving Word Document generation and specifically how it handles images. Word Document generation seems to be a popular feature but at present I think it is a little limited.
If you have any feature requests, please let me know!
